Obituary

Marie Kast Martin, age 85, of Salem, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 10, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family after sustaining a brief injury. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Martin and her parents, Everett and Helen Kast. She was born on March 28, 1937 in Kern, Va. Marie retired from Salem City Schools with over 23 years of service, where she had worked in the offices at Andrew Lewis Middle School.

Marie is survived by her three children, Carol Martin, Rick Martin, and Mark Martin, all of Salem and a host of other family members.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2PM, Sunday, November 13, 2022 in the chapel of Kendall Funeral Home, 606 Snidow St. Pembroke, Va. with Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time Sunday.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of Lewis Gale Hospital and to the entire team of Good Samaritan Hospice for the care received for Mrs. Martin.
