Obituary

MARK ANTHONY ESTEP, 57, of Ripplemead, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Born in Saltville, VA on September 27, 1959, he was a son of the late Elsie Imogene Garrett and grew up in the care of the "Home" in Wytheville. He was a life-long over the road trucker known by his handle as "Gunslinger". Mark was a faithful member of Newport Lodge No. 261 AF&AM, a devoted Christian and member of Edgewood United Methodist Church in Ripplemead where he worked tirelessly grooming the grounds.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted friends Gary and Rhonda Tickle, his church family who will greatly miss his work and fellowship; his good friend Aleene Niday of Bland who he always called "Mom", his mentor Master Mason Alan Guthrie, and a host of friends who will miss him and the flock of birds he fed faithfully every day.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 2:00 pm in Edgewood United Methodist Church in Ripplemead with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The Rev Pam Southerland, his pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services. Graveside Masonic Rites will be rendered at the time of burial. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Edgewood United Methodist Church, 206 Magnolia Ave., Ripplemead, VA 24150.
