Martha Susanne DeHart, age 63, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly into eternal peace at her beloved homeplace in Ripplemead, VA on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was the daughter of the late G.C. and Martha Santolla DeHart. She leaves behind her brother, Michael DeHart of Big Stony Creek, and sisters Cathy DeHart and Lawrence Stevens of Blacksburg and Mary Elizabeth Lawhorne and husband Bill of Ripplemead, three sons, David Ellis and wife Beth of Emmitsburg, MD, Justin Oglesby and Sullivan Brawn of White Heath, IL, grandchildren Jamie, Shelby, and Patrick Ellis and step-grandchildren Elysa, Nina, and Carmelo. She loved all her family and her many friends. She was a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Pearisburg and enjoyed singing in the choir. She had a great dedication to Christian forgiveness and a deep love of nature. She had a loving and caring spirit and was a friend to animals, strangers, and those in need. A Memorial service will be held at the Catholic Church in Pearisburg on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Kendall Funeral Home is taking care of her arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Giles County Animal Shelter through the Giles Administration, 315 North Main St., Pearisburg, VA 24134.
