Obituary

Martha Lynn McDonald Moretz, 46, of Fourth St. in Pembroke, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2004 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 23, 1958 in Pearisburg. Martha was an active member of the Pembroke First United Methodist Church where she sang with the church choir and participated in several youth mission trips. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Virginia Tech for 27 years in the Department of Human Development. She was a member of the McComas Chapter of the United Daughters of The Confederacy and Pembroke Montage Association.



She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Perry Moretz, a daughter Erin Paige Moretz and a son Bryan Christopher Moretz; her parents G.B. and Mary Douglas Porterfield McDonald of Kimballton; her mother-in-law Mary Moretz of West Jefferson, NC; and the late Archie P. Moretz; a sister Rebecca (Becky) Frame and her husband Edsel and their daughter Sarah all of Christiansburg. Martha is also survived by many cherished family members and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted Friday November 26, 2004 at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church in Pembroke with the Rev. Jannette Clavez and Martha's cousin the Rev. Gregory Porterfield officiating. Interment witll follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Pembroke First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Pembroke Youth Mission Fund at P.O. Box 69 Pembroke, VA 24136.
