Mary Ruth Hobbs Milam, 96, of Cascades Drive in Pembroke, VA departed this life Thursday morning May 18, 2006 from Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, VA. Born in Pennington Gap in Lee County, Virginia on January 18, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Willie Watson Pennington. She attended Radford College and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University. She taught school in Pennington Gap for five years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pennington Gap. She was preceded in death by her husbands Audrey B. Hobbs and Otey Milam.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son Ronald Hobbs of Pembroke, VA and a daughter Doris Jean Usko of Lady Lake, Florida; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, VA Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM and at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap Monday two hours before the funeral. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 PM in the Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Burial will follow in the Hobbs Cemetery at Pennington Gap. .
