Melvin Ernest Leslie, 95, of Pearisburg departed this life Sunday evening July 30, 2006 at Highland Ridge Health Center in Dublin. Born in Roanoke City on December 15, 1910 he was a son of the late Joseph Oscar and Nettie Mae Gibson Leslie. Melvin was employed at the Celanese Celco Plant in Narrows from 1941 until his retirement, and was a vetean of the US Army in WW II. He was preceded in death by his four wives Beulah May Leslie, Alice Boad Leslie, Viola Elvie Leslie and Lena May Leslie; and a sister Mable Gertrude Candler. He is survived by five step-children Gloria Conner (his caregiver), Sylvia Stickney, Charles Fisher, Jimmy Fisher, and Frank "Butch" Fisher. Graveside services will be conducted at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg Tuesday at 2:00 PM. Friends may call at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke before the services.
