Michelle Leigh Cumbee Muckey, of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1970, in Radford, Virginia, and lived a life marked by kindness, service, faith, and devotion to the people she loved. Michelle was the beloved wife of Ross Muckey and a devoted daughter to Ira Lee Cumbee Jr. and Carolyn Cumbee. She also shared a special bond with her furbaby, CoCo, who brought her comfort and companionship. She will be remembered fondly by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and steady presence. Michelle’s passion was to help other people. This led to her working as a Paramedic in both Richmond and Roanoke, Virginia. She later worked in Computer Engineering/Network Administration, working in the IT departments of Stellar One Bank, WSLS TV, and Virginia Tech.
She loved crafting and took pleasure in creating with her hands, often finding peace and satisfaction in the simple beauty of making something meaningful. In addition, Michelle was very active in her church and deeply enjoyed serving among her church family and being present in her community. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she lived it through her actions, her compassion, and her willingness to care for those around her. Michelle also had a heart for service through her time as a paramedic, a role that reflected her courage, compassion, and desire to help others in moments of need. Whether in times of urgency or in everyday moments, she was known for her calm presence and her kind spirit. Her life was a testament to selflessness, and she made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.
