Mildred Josephine Lafon (Jo), 78, of Pearisburg, departed this life Friday morning, January 23, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County on October 14, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Ray Henry Snider and Lorraine Sanders Lamb. Jo was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and had worked at Giles Memorial Hospital as an LPN after her nurses training at Radford University. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Janice "Jannie" Snider.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 56 years, Ted E. Lafon; her son and daughter-in-law Michael E. and Lora Lafon of Trigg; her daughter Lisa Jo Robbins of Pearisburg; her grandchildren Daniel E. and Jacqueline Lafon, Casey A. Lafon, Sara N. and Dustin Trent; her great-grandchildren Braden and Raelynn Trent, Bentley, and expecting her fourth in May; her sisters Jessie and Alvis Jamison of Pembroke, Jean Trenor of Ripplemead; among several beloved nieces and nephews a special nephew Andy Richards and his sons Michael and Isaiah; and a very special friend Rodney Freeman.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with The Rev Dr. Fred Austin and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 until 2 pm before the service at the funeral home.
