Ola "Derock" Hilton Lucas, 88, of Cascade Drive in Pembroke departed this life Monday morning, April 27, 2009 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born in Pembroke on April 12, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Sam Bowen and Louise Neal Nelson. Ola was a member of Calvary Christian Church in Pembroke and was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows. She was preceded in death by her husbands Lester V. Hilton and James Billy Lucas, two brothers Arkal and Eugene Nelson : two sisters Eva Martin Boles and China Mann, and a daughter-in-law Janice Bell Hilton.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Garry Russell Hilton of Pembroke; her granddaugher Dee Ann Meredith of Pembroke and her great-granddaughters Hillary and husband Dustin Lucas of Pembroke and Whitney Meredith of Pembroke , a dear friend Frances Rouse of Parrott, and Dale Meredith the father of her great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with her Pastor David Kessinger and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department.
