Paul Allen Powell, Sr., 65, of Pearisburg, departed this life Friday afternoon, March 13, 2009 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Pearisburg on March 11, 1944 he was a son of the late Robert A. and Mattie Martha Albert Powell. He was retired from RAAP as a millwright and was a graduate of Giles High School, 1961. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law Amy Collins, and two brothers Bobby and Rusty Powell.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Cindy Pillow Powell; his son and daughter-in-law Paul Allen, Jr. and Susie Powell of Hopewell, VA; his daughters and sons -in-law Angie and Mike Burroughs of Chesapeake, VA, Martie and Kevin Miller of Blacksburg; his step-sons and daughter-in-law Andy Collins of Morgantown, WV, Matthew and Sherry Collins of Radford; his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Michelle Powell of Pearisburg; his grandchildren Olivia Powell, Tyler Collins, Seth Powell, Lauren Burroughs, Hannah Powell, Zachary Burroughs, Alanna Miller, Lyndsay Miller and Emma Powell; a special niece and her husband Crystal and Jeremy Cultice of Radford.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Jeremiah Murphy and Michael Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5 until 8 PM.
