Pauline Elizabeth "Libby" Lafon, 88, of the Hoges Chapel Community, Pembroke, departed this life Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2013 at her home on Liberty Lane. Born on "the Phlegar Place" in Giles County on March 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Hubbard and Frances Basham Janney. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hoges Chapel and preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond "Sonny" Lafon, her sister Thelma Breeding, and her brothers Charlie and John Janney and Rhino Basham.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Edwin W. Lafon (Bonnie) of Pembroke, Victor Lafon (Pam) of Pembroke, Darrell Lafon (Michelle) of Bluefield, WV; her daughters Diane L. Dalton (Dickie) of Bear Spring, Pam L. Dalton (Freddie) of Hoges Chapel, Regina L. Vest (Kevin) of Floyd, Co.; her fourteen grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; two young men who looked up to her as "Granny" Eric and Adam; and her caregivers Tina Steenken and Desiree Minton.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor Dan Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
