Randy Dale Jones, Sr., of Narrows, Virginia, was born December 8, 1966, in Pearisburg, Virginia. He passed away peacefully at Carriage Hill Nursing Home in Bedford, Virginia, on August 11, 2026, following health complications, surrounded by the love of his family.

To those who knew Randy, there was no separating the man from the firefighter. Serving others wasn’t simply what he did—it was who he was.A lifelong member of Glen Lyn Fire & Rescue, Randy faithfully served his community for more than 30 years, including as Fire Chief. Known simply as “Chief,” he led with courage, compassion, and integrity, earning the respect of generations of firefighters and leaving a lasting impact on Giles County and the community he loved.Outside the fire service, 

Randy found peace riding his Harley-Davidson through the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life, and the memories they shared will forever be cherished.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee Jones, Sr. and Vera Sue Jones.He is survived by his son, Dale Jones and wife Stacey of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his son, Ryan Jones and wife Lauryn of Narrows, Virginia; his brother, Walter Lee Jones, Jr.; his beloved grandchildren Aiden Adkins, Harper Jones, Kendall Adkins, Brantlee Jones, Rylee Jones, and Ryder Jones; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow firefighters, and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. during a time of visitation, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Ricky Green.  Randy will be laid to rest beside his parents at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Virginia.
