Obituary

Raymond Linwood (Sonny) Lafon, 81, of Kow Kamp Road in Hoges Chapel near Pembroke departed this life Monday morning, August 31, 2009 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Eggleston on June 6, 1928, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Lena Mae Strouth Lafon. Sonny was a devout Christian and member of Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hoges Chapel, was a member of Wabash Lodge , Odd Fellows, a painter by trade, and known to his CB buddies as "Odd Man".



He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Pauline Elizabeth (Libby) Janney Lafon; his sons and daughters-in-law Edwin (Joe) and Bonnie Jean Lafon of Pembroke, Victor and Pam Lafon of Pembroke, Darrell and Michelle Lafon of Bluefield, WV; his daughters and sons-in-law Dianne and Dickie Dalton of Bear Springs, Pam and Freddie Dalton of Pembroke; Regina and Kevin Vest of Floyd; his twelve grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren, and his special friend, "Little Bitty".



Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Rob Lough and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
