Rhoda Mabe Hutchison, 70, of Newport, Craig County, departed this life Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Saltville, Smyth County, VA, on October 14, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Ollie Poston Mabe. Rhoda was retired from Virginia Tech as a chef, was a 1965 graduate of Giles High School, and was a member of the Clover Hollow Christian Church in Newport. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Roy Hutchison, her brothers Bob, Allen, "Bud" Charles Mabe and her maternal grandparents John and Vertie Poston.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughter-in-law Roy Jr. and Brandy Hutchison of Radford and Rodney Frazier of Newport; her daughter and son-in-law Rhoda and Charles Ellers of Newport; her grandchildren Samantha Frazier, Jacob Frazier and fiancé Nicole Humphries, Hailey Hutchison, Jordyn Hutchison; great-granddaughter Christiana Cole; her sister Shirley and Robert Hale of Pembroke; beloved sister-in-law Dorothy Price of Pembroke; and special friends Janice Furrow and Ronnie Raines, and special relatives Rhodie and Johnny Harmon.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. In honor of Rhoda's request her cremains will then be buried beside her beloved husband Roy on their Craig County farm.
