Richard George Albert, 80, of Pembroke departed this life Thursday morning, February 11, 2010 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County on November 5, 1929, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Meredith Albert. He had been employed as a guard with the Department of Corrections, and had served with the Virginia National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred Mary Trail Albert and a daughter Libby Hale.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law George Richard and Cheryl Albert of Rich Creek, David Lee and Louann Albert of Dublin, Robert Lee Albert of Pembroke, Bryan Keith Albert of Pembroke; his daughters and sons-in-law Mary Ann and Haven Montgomery of Dublin; Nancy and Steve Rice of Pembroke, Judy and Tim Bane of Pearisburg; his brother William Dean of Pembroke; his sixteen grandchildren and his eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial park in Pearisburg.
