Richard Wayne Cumbee, 53, of College St. in Narrows peacefully departed this life at his home Friday morning, December 12, 2008. Born in Giles County on October 12, 1955 he was a son of Bertie Sanders Cumbee of Pembroke and the late Richard Lee Cumbee. He was employed at the Celanese Plant in Narrows as cigarette tow specialist and was a veteran of the U S Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Doris Fillinger Cumbee; his mother Bertie Cumbee; his brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Arlette Cumbee of Pearisburg; his sisters and brother-in-law Gladys and Mike Hyatt of Narrows, Melissa Cumbee McGrath of Pascagoula, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews and a special friend-nephew Christopher Cumbee.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday evening at 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the services. On line condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
