Richard Lee Cumbee, 64, of Knob Mt. Road near Pembroke in the Maybrook Community died Saturday morning July 23, 2005 at his home. Born in Giles County on March 11, 1941 he was a son of Elsie Mae Dowdy Cumbee of Maybrook and the late William Homer Cumbee. He had been employed since he was sixteen years old with Atkins Equipment in Maybrook. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances Conley Cumbee and a brother Warren A. Cumbee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, two sons Donald Cumbee of Pembroke and Ronald Cumbee of Pearisburg; five daughters Rose Cumbee of Pembroke, Patricia Donathan of Pembroke, Jean Dunn of Peterstown, WV, Brenda Cumbee of Narrows, Jennifer Cumbee of Pembroke; two brothers Bobby Cumbee and David Cumbee both of Pembroke; two sisters Louise Dowdy of Newport and Hazel Warsing of Crewe; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
