Robert Gilmer Cumbee, 61, of Maybrook Community, Pembroke, departed this life Wednesday evening, November 15, 2017 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on September 3, 1956, he was a son of the late Paul Gilmer Cumbee and Lucille Conley Martin. He had previously been employed in the construction business. Robert was preceded in death by three sisters Sandra Smith, Brenda Martin and Carolyn Woodson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Michael Cumbee of Maybrook; his daughters and sons-in-law Melissa Dennis of Pearisburg, Crystal and Ron Smith of Hoges Chapel; and Amber and Christopher Johnston of Blacksburg; his grandchildren Hunter and Jacob Cumbee, Caleb Smith, Debra Vaught, and Cheyenne Dennis; his sisters Mary Helen Riggs of Pearisburg, Hazel Cumbee of Hoges Chapel, and Doris May of Pearisburg; and his special friends Johnny Collins and Jessie Neice.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 3:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating.
