Robert Estil Hale, Sr. (BobBobby), 84, of Pembroke departed this life Wednesday morning, May 2, 2012, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem after a long illness. Born at Interior in Giles County on March 26, 1928, he was a son of the late Estil and Janey Lucas Hale. He was retired from the mines at the National Gypsum Co. at Goldbond. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary Katherine Neice Hale, his granddaughter Karen Melissa Hale, and his brothers Raymond, Freddie, and Gene Hale.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children Robert Jr. and Shirley Hale of Pembroke, James Hale of Pearisburg, John and Peggy Hale of Pembroke, Sherman Hale of Pearisburg, Margie Dowdy and Charles Kellison of Pearisburg, Margaret Ann and Darrell Proco of Christiansburg; his twelve grandchildren; his twenty great-grandchildren; and his one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Merrill Hedrick and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the McCroskey Cemetery at Interior.
