Robert Nelson Robinette, 68, of Eggleston Road, Pembroke, departed this life Thursday evening, January 8, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. Born in Salem on June 14, 1946, he was a son of the late Jefferson Monroe Robinette and Doris Katherine Kellner Robinette. "Bobby" was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, was a veteran of the U S Army, Viet Nam Era, attended University of Arkansas at Monticello; and received degrees from VPI and Beirut University in Lebanon. He was retired from Virginia Tech where he was employed in the Computer Center and was a passionate collector of antiques and a student of history. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William Carl Robinette.

He leaves to cherish his memory his first cousin John Kellner; his co-workers Charlie Gills, and Dan Joyce; his long-time friend Tommy Jones of Monticello, Arkansas; his church family and many friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 7:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
