Robert Homer "Buck" Young, 76, of Cascade Drive, Pembroke, departed this life Sunday evening, April 17, 2011 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Pembroke on December 28, 1934, he was a son of the late Togo and Violet Marie Neice Young. Buck was retired from the National Gypsum Lime Plant at Goldbond and was a faithful attendant at Bethel Chapel in Clendennin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy McGuire Martin Young, his brother Jay Young, his sisters Gladys Hilton, Lois Young, Margaret Snider, and "Bill" Corina Griggs.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brother John Young of Pembroke; his step-children Rhondy and his wife Margene Martin of Placitos, NM, Wanda and her husband Sam Brumfield of Pembroke; his sister-in-law Rita Young of Pembroke; his brother-in-law Donald Griggs of Pearisburg, and his good friend Marcia Osborne of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke Wednesday morning at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 pm before the services.
