Roger Victor Griggs, Sr., 61, of Curve Road in Pearisburg departed this life Sunday evening March 4, 2007 in the loving care of his family at his home. Born in Pearisburg on August 14, 1945 he was a son of the late William Woodrow and Eva Frances Gillespie Griggs. He was employed as Street Superintendent for The Town of Pearisburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers Arthur, Leon, and Lyle Griggs.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty years Mary Helen Cumbee Griggs; four sons and daughters-in-law Roger Griggs, Jr. of Pearisburg, Billy (W.G.) and Diane Griggs of Eggleston, Michael and Gina Griggs of Ballard, WV, Jerry and Wendi Griggs of Rich Creek; three brothers Donald Giggs of Pearisburg, Daniel and wife Martha Griggs of Pearisburg, Lonnie and wife Helen Griggs of Shawsville; four sisters and brothers-in-law Drema Hamblin of Pearisburg, Mary and Johnny Johnson of Pearisburg, Sylvia and James Mustard of Pulaski, Pat and David Stevers of Christiansburg; thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
