Romona Perry Williams, 88, of Daleville, VA formerly of Roanoke, VA, departed this life Friday evening, March 13, 2020 in the care of The Glebe Retirement Community and Good Samaritan Hospice. Born in Athens, WV, on October 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mabel Osborn Perry. Romona believed in formal education and had sought knowledge and wisdom from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and the Medical College of Virginia. She dedicated her services to both the Educational and Nursing professions, working for the Roanoke Public School Systems. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James F. Williams; a sister, Rebecca Miller; brothers, Walter Watson Perry of St. Petersburg, Florida, and James Russell Perry of Newark, Delaware.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Raymond Draper Williams (Lu Anne) of Clewiston, Florida, and Thomas Perry Williams (Tracy) of Roanoke, VA; daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Martilik (Richard) of Pawleys Island, SC, and Susan Mabel Church (Luke) of Roanoke, VA; a brother, Robert Perry of Princeton, WV; sisters, Lois King of Holland, MI, and Betty Gene Duffey of Dawsonville, GA; 5 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, and 2 great-grand daughters.
There will be a graveside service held in the Birchlawn Burial Park Mausoleum on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. There will be a Memorial Service held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to The American Cancer Society (PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123).
