Rosette Breeding Dowdy, 90, formerly of Sam Robinson Apartments in Pembroke departed this life Saturday morning, September 3, 2011 at the home of her daughter Eloise, her caregiver. She was born in Giles County on April 30, 1921 a daughter of the late James Luther and Virgie Mae Cumbee Breeding. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William M. Dowdy and her sons Lawrence and Howard Dowdy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Eloise and her husband Steve Songer of Newport, and Terry Dowdy of Pembroke; her son Jerry G. Dowdy of Maybrook; her sisters Effie B. Sarver of Maybrook and Ella Breeding of Pembroke; her nine grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Wayman Creger and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
