Russell "Rusty" Devon Meadows, 44, formerly of Newport and now of Covington, died Monday evening May 26, 2008 in a truck accident in Botetourt County. Born in Roanoke on March 13, 1964 he was a son of W. R. "Rabbit" and Ruby Smith Meadows of Mt. Lake Community near Newport. Rusty had been employed with Sunlight Tile Co as a tile setter. He was a veteran of the U S Army.

He is survived by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law Crystal and Stuart Wright of Elliston; his son Russell Alex Meadows of Englehard, NC; daughters Christiana and Mellisa Shue of WV; nieces Cpt. Christian Lynn St.Clair of US Army in Iraq, Kimberly Renee Basham and husband Danny Lee of Ellison; nephew Pfc. Joshua Evan Wright of US Army Reserve in Elliston; great nephew Triston Lee Basham; his wife Barbara Ewan Meadows of Speedwell, VA.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM in the Boyd's Chapel Cemetery at Pembroke. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
