Shirley Jean Harless Yancey, 86 of Pearisburg, Virginia departed this life in her home on August 1, 2023.  Born in Summers County, WV on January 22, 1937 she is a daughter of the late Opie and Amy Young Harless.

Shirley was proud to be a Green Wave and was a graduate of the Class of 1955.  When she was able to attend, she never missed a class reunion.  She was also proud that she worked in Celanese for over 30 years.  When she was off work she enjoyed going to Smith Mountain Lake and camping with her daughter and visiting Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with her daughter.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda Jean Yancey; grandson, Derek Lyle Hare; and brother, Buford "Bo" Harless.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Charlene Yancey of Dublin, Virginia; special family members, Margee and Harvey Keats of Canada; and special friends, Richard and Faith Briggs, Marvin and Rhonda Perkins, and Leslie Lucas.

There will be a graveside service conducted Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Virginia with Pastor Winfred Keene officiating.
