Stephen Craig Saunders, 45, of Newport, departed this life Monday May 11, 2009 in Blacksburg. Born in Radford on March 3, 1964, he earned his living as a farmer in Craig County. He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia (Patty) S. Broyles.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Minor Craig and Patricia Grubb Saunders of Newport, a special niece and her husband Valarie B. and Eddie Lane of Newport; a special nephew Benjamin Michael Broyles of Roanoke; a great niece Jadelynn Lane and a great nephew Ethan Greer, a brother-in-law John Broyles.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday May 13, 2009 at the Williams Cemetery at Level Green in Craig County. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
