Obituary

The Reverend Ronald Smith Clark, 82, of Fairfax, VA went to his heavenly home Friday May 4, 2007 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years Doris Clark.



Born in Midland, Michigan on March 5, 1925, Ron moved to Loudon County, Virginia and worked farms with his family during childhood. He entered the U S Navy in 1942 and attended signalman school in Jacksonville, FL serving with distinction during WW II aboard the USS Euryale and the USS Caswell. After the war he finished high school at McKinley Tech in Washington, DC and then graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts. While working on his Master's degree at Westminster Theological Seminary in Westminster, MD , he met and married Doris Jeanne Good of Fairfax VA. Rev. Clark served in the Virginia United Methodist Conference until his retirement in 1975. Returning to Fairfax, he and his son Mark owned and operated R. S. Clark & Son, a contracting business, until 1993.



Ron led a vivid life, marking all those who met him with his caring for people, sense of justice and simple, unaffected love. He was a bold splash of color on our canvas, always serving in the only way he knew , and felt privileged to walk among God's people.



He is survived by his children, Mark and Susan Clark of Roanoke, VA, Marcia and Richard Peterson of Dumfries, Monica and Jefferson Hobbs of Frederick, MD and Miriam and Al Saguto of Williamsburg, VA, his grandchildren Christopher Tate, Ariel Clark and Matthew Tate, his siter Peggy Llaycock andher husbnd Joe, and brother William Clark and his wife Nita, nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM in the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Virginia on Wednesday , May 9, preceded by a family visistation at 1:00 PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairfax United Methodist Church building fund. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, VA is serving the Clark family.
