Tommy Newton Lang, 81, of Pembroke departed this life Friday afternoon June 9, 2006 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Giles Co. on July 8, 1924 he was a son of the late Andy and Maggie Sue Williams Lang. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory ,a sister with whom he made his home, Dolly Dowdy Weiss of Pembroke; a brother Walter Lang of Lynchburg; two special nieces and caregivers Rita Young and Brenda Cheatwood and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
