VELLA LAKE ANDERSON, 94, of Rich Creek, departed this life Tuesday morning, October 18, 2016, in the care of Commonwealth Assisted Living in Christiansburg, VA. Born in Glen Lyn on September 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late James Henry and Nettie Mullins Reed. Vella was a 1941 graduate of Glen Lyn High School, was retired from jet assembly at the Celanese Plant in Narrows, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Henry Anderson, her brothers John M., Ira H, Howard W, Hugh E, James H, Robert N, and Avery Gene Reed, and her sisters Ruth Ratcliffe, Helen Spangler, and Mary Sue Booth.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Marilyn Diann Anderson of Floyd and her brother Dean "T Baby" Reed of Rich Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
