Virginia Elizabeth Burton, 83, of Eggleston, departed this life Sunday morning March 22, 2009 after a long illness at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Hardy, Kentucky on May 8, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Giles Stewart and Sally Albert Burton. She was a member of Green Valley United Methodist Church near her home and was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows with forty-four years service. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Frank Burton, Charlie Burton, and Wilmot Burton and a sister Freeda Rogers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Giles Burton of Eggleston and Darcy and his wife Altheia Tate Burton of Mechanicsville, VA; her grandchildren Christopher Lee Burton and his wife Carolyn and Julie Burton Moore and her husband Jason and a great-grandson James Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. Interment will be private, at a later date, in the Walker Cemetery at Eggleston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
