Virginia Ann Cruise, 81, of Lucas Road, Newport, departed this life Friday morning, February 22, 2013 at her home in the care of her granddaughter Amber and Good Samaritan Hospice. Born in Pearisburg on January 16, 1932 she was a daughter of Dessie Hollins Whittaker of Rich Creek and the late Joe Lee Whittaker. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband Albert Payne Cruise, her sons Robin J. Cruise and Myron P. Cruise; her brother Melvin Whittaker, and her sister Violet Christine Whittaker.

She leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughters Amber Thompson and Ashley McGuire; her great-grandchildren Kiva Thompson Gracie Thompson, Josh McGuire, and Hunter McGuire; and good friends John Thompson, Bobby Thornton, Teresa Booth, Colleen Booth, Kelly Booth, and Michelle Booth.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in the Lucas Cemetery near her home.
