Wayne Louis "Buck" Merrix, 73, of Pembroke died Thursday evening December 16, 2004 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Pembroke on May 6, 1931 he was a son of the late Frank James Merrix and Modine Hilton Merrix Short and step-son of the late Norval Short. "Buck" was a self -employed mechanic and talented in many of the building trades, and when he was able attended the Pembroke Church of God. He was preceded in death by a brother Coye Merrix.

He leaves to cherish his memory a sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Warren Croy of Pearisburg; six nieces Kay Patton, Lynn Morris, Drema Croy, Renee Cox, Keely Farlow, Cheryl Merrix and a nephew Keith Croy.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday December 20, 2004 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor James Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
