Obituary

William Robert Lowery, aged 73, of Narrows, Virginia passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia.  He was born to this world and the Lowery family on June 15, 1952. Known for his unwavering dedication to family, service, and community, William's life was a testament to the values of hard work, patriotism, and joyous living.

William's journey began in the rolling hills of Virginia, where he grew up surrounded by the love of family and the beauty of nature. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of E4. His military service was distinguished by his receipt of the National Defense Service Medal and recognition as a Sharpshooter with the M16. After his honorable discharge, William channeled his disciplined work ethic into a successful career as a Master Electrician, contributing his expertise to the IBEW Local 466 for many years.

Family was the cornerstone of William's life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted mother-in-law, Closia Ann Johnston, his adoring daughters, Silver Conner (John Ratcliffe), Keisha Lowery (CJ Meador), and Erin Fisher (Katie Minnick), and his treasured grandchildren, Keira Lynn Conner, Emily Ann Lowery, and Adrianna Ratcliffe (Cody). He was a supportive brother to Gary Lowery (Brenda) and Rosetta Neice (Donnie), Lynn Rodgers (Ken), and a respected in-law to Robert Rucker (Kelly), Sam Rucker (Robin), Debbie Lowery, and Paula Rucker. His special cousins, Patty Neice (Jimmy), Debbie Akers (Darrell), Janetta Collins, and Jackie Dalton (Melvin), along with many special nieces, nephews, and cousins, will fondly remember William's presence.

William was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Ann Lowery, his cherished wife, Sharon Lowery, his granddaughter, Emma Nichole Conner, his father-in-law, Charles Johnston; his brother, Charles Lowery; his sister-in-law, Debbie Blankenship, his grandparents, Franklin and Bernice Canterbury Lowery;  special aunt and uncle, Bertie and Jack Blankenship; and nephew, Jason Neice.

An avid outdoorsman, William found solace and joy living on Stockpen Mountain. His passion for riding 4-wheelers and boats were matched only by his love for his grandbabies and his special cat, Boopy. A fan of Matt Dillon, he often shared his enthusiasm for the character with his family and friends. Family cookouts were a highlight for William.
