Obituary

Retired Policeman William Francis Van Mullen Sr., fondly known as Bill, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2025. He will be remembered as a true American hero, whose life was marked by extraordinary inner strength, resilience, and exceptional bravery in the face of adversity. Bill was not only a valiant warrior and steadfast protector, but also a selfless individual who served with unwavering dedication in both the United States Marine Corps and the Manchester NH Police Department.

Service to Country

Born with a spirit of service and an unbreakable resolve, Bill first answered the call to protect his nation as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam. Through his courage and commitment, he stood on the front lines for freedom, embodying honor, loyalty, and valor at every turn.

Dedication to Community

After his military service, Bill returned to his home state where his dedication to protecting others never diminished. He transitioned to the Manchester Police Department, patrolling the streets with integrity, empathy, and unwavering lionheartedness. His sense of duty was unshakable, and he consistently demonstrated compassion, courage, and wisdom throughout his thirty-year career as a police officer.

Character and Interests

Bill was a man of integrity, strength, and compassion. From his earliest days on the beat until his retirement, he embodied the very best of what it means to wear the badge: courage in the face of danger, compassion in moments of crisis, and wisdom in helping others. He had a deep appreciation for military history and found great joy in fishing and hunting, relishing every moment he spent in nature.

Faith and Legacy

Bill's faith in his Lord Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his quiet character. Whether in moments of joy or in seasons of challenge, he leaned on the promises of Scripture and song, radiating a peace that came from knowing Christ intimately. He was a faithful servant, and to know Bill was to witness the love of Jesus in action.
